Active Recovery Clinics

Injury recovery can be a difficult journey for anyone to undertake. At Navigator Group, we’re proud to offer a world-leading treatment program that helps people who have experienced a workplace injury or motor vehicle accident get back to their best within just twelve weeks. We’re here to help our participants have a stress-free, positive injury recovery experience.

What is ARC?

ARC stands for Active Recovery Clinic. It’s a twelve-week, exercise-based recovery program delivered by a team of experts that includes Sports Medicine Physicians, exercise physiologists, physiotherapists, psychologists and counsellors.

Using advanced technology and innovative techniques, the goal of the program is to give participants the tools they need to take control of their injury, get their physical and mental well-being back on track, and return to everyday life sooner than expected.

Who’s it for?

Recovery from a workplace injury or motor vehicle accident is complex, stressful and at times, a confusing process. At ARC, we’ve developed a patient-centred, comprehensive specialized clinic service aimed at providing you peace of mind in your recovery journey.

Our leading evidence-based treatment programs empower our patients to take control of their recovery and reduce the stress associated with your injury.

Who can be referred to the ARC program?

The ARC program is suitable for a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries, including those related to the neck, shoulder, lower back, ankle, hip, and knee. In addition, the participant must also:

  • Be within 2 - 12 weeks post-injury.

  • Have no fractures or concussions.

  • Have unfit or reduced capacity for work.

We can deliver the ARC program remotely all over Australia. We also offer face-to-face examinations at various clinics across the country.

In some instances, psychosocial support may also be required. In that case, participants can use our Navigator Support Program (NSP) service without any additional fees.

How do I make a referral?

GPs and Case Managers can easily make a referral by, first, obtaining verbal permission from the participant that they are happy for ARC to get in touch about their injury. Following this, a referral can be made by clicking the ‘Make a Referral’ button at the top of this page. Once you’ve filled out the required information, simply click ‘Submit’ and a member of the ARC team will be in touch soon.

How does it work?

Patients attend a review with a specialist team including a Sports Medicine Physician, Psychologist and Physiotherapist every 4 weeks for 12 weeks.

ARC is a world-leading program that has been designed with results in mind.

Following the completion of the detailed medical assessment by the Sports Medicine Physician.

FAQs

  • Once ARC receives a referral, the team will contact the participant to explain the program in detail and confirm the initial clinic visit date and time. During the first visit, the participant’s injury and current recovery progress will be reviewed by the multidisciplinary ARC team.

The participant doesn't need to do anything special to prepare for the appointment, though it’s recommended to wear comfortable clothing. The initial appointment will take around 60 - 90 minutes.

A clinical report will then be sent to the GP, Case Manager and any other relevant stakeholders. This report will include information such as the diagnosis, prognosis, capacity for work and treatment recommendations.

  • ARC will provide the GP, Case Manager and any other relevant stakeholders with monthly clinical reports that detail the diagnosis, prognosis, treatment plans and certificate of capacity recommendations. These reports will be prepared by a Sports Medicine Physician in the ARC team.

The physiotherapist or exercise physiologist managing the exercise program will also send through regular email communication and updates on treatment progress, barriers and strategies.

A medical case conference will take place at the end of the ARC program, during which ARC will outline the outcomes of the program, make recommendations regarding the certificate of capacity and return to work upgrades, and make recommendations for ongoing self-management of the participant’s recovery.
